All Fortnite Reload Weapons – Best and Worst Fresh Guns

Reading Time: 9 minutes

Reload has gotten a Ranked mode, if you want to climb up fast what are the best Fortnite Reload weapons you can carry?

Fortnite Reload has gone from strength to strength since it launched, now getting a Ranked mode. Now you’re actually trying to grind up and not just have fun, you might have to get serious in what you carry.

The Fortnite Reload weapons are an interesting set. Rather than a new batch of weapons like we see elsewhere, it’s more of a remixed loot pool.

At times the weapons have taken heavy inspiration from the OG chapter. But with different patches, it’s become more of a random mix-up of past weapons.

If there’s ever a weapon you kind of forgot about or didn’t think you’d see again, it seems to be showing back up in Reload.

There’s a decent number of Fortnite Reload guns here. Now we’ve had an update to the guns too, it’s starting to take form as something quite fun and unique. Mobility and other weirder items are popping up here and there too.

How do you decide which guns to carry each game?

There is a collection of the best Fortnite Reload weapons. The guns that have stood out since the  mode was released. What are the must carries in Fortnite Reload and what’s best left behind?

All Fortnite Reload Items

The Fortnite Reload items are a pretty small group. It’s parred back to match the quicker format for gameplay, and items with weird novelties have largely been left behind. Unless you stumble on a mythic or Exotic that is, which can get just as wacky as the base game.

These are all of the guns in the game at the moment:

Tactical Shotgun
Bolt-Action Sniper
Rocket Launcher
Grappler
Thunder Pump
Hammer Assault Rifle
Infantry Rifle
Prime Shotgun
Tactical Submachine Gun
Mammoth Pistol
The vast majority of old mythics and exotics.

There’s been a decent bit of change since the game was released. Some of the most popular weapons with hardcore players have stuck around though, like the Infantry Rifle and Grappler.

On top of that, Fortnite Reload Mythics pop up a lot too. These have a minor chance of dropping from each chest, so you can stumble on some weirder Fortnite weapons from time to time too. They aren’t part of the regular loot pool though.

You can find weapons as strange as the Mythic Goldfish in normal chests. It’s a bit weird for a Reload tier list though, since the Mythics are too uncommon to really bank on at any time.

Which are the best Fortnite Reload Items? We can break it down across a few tiers to see what stands out in the game.

S Tier – Best Fortnite Reload Weapons
Infantry Rifle

The Infantry Rifle is a much-missed weapon! Maybe Fortnite’s best ever marksman rifle, just a basic rifle that works perfectly.

It’s going to reward players with great aim. Since it’s a bit faster than the Sniper it’s better suited for Reload too. It’s a great gun and one we’ll likely see in a lot of clips of pop-offs from this new mode. It’s a gun we’d love to see back in  Fortnite tournaments  too, which can happen now that Reload is getting cups.

The Infantry Rifle is differently a more circumstantial weapon, but it’s circumstances you can engineer. The Tilted drop and fast kills might grab the most attention in Reload, but there’s plenty of room for mid-range play too.

Rocket Launcher

The Rocket Launcher is one of Fortnite’s most fun weapons! Epic bizarrely keeps it out of Battle Royale these days, so it’s fun to see it back in Fortnite Reload.

This weapon is fantastic for taking out builds, and even players at the right ranges. You’ll have to watch ammo, but with infinite reboots around even dealing close-range explosive damage backfiring on you isn’t the end of the world. The Rocket Launcher is a must-carry for a lot of players in Reload.

Reload is often focused on more exact gunplay, but the Rocket Launcher is really effective. It works at a lot of ranges, counters builds, it’s easy to forget just how versatile the weapon is.

Grappler

The singular mobility tool in Fortnite Reload! No cars to be found. And definitely no crazy mobility like the Hover Jets or Shockwave Hammer. We’ve just got the Grappler.

The Grappler is ideal for getting around the map and out of trouble. It’s another must-carry. As the only mobility tool, it’s best to keep one in your inventory at all times to get the best chances of  winning Fortnite games  in Reload.

There aren’t enough mobility items to really consider not having a slot for this. In the early part of the game where Reloads means you don’t have to carry as many meds, you should have plenty of space for this too.

Thunder Pump Shotgun

Fortnite’s had a lot of Pumps over the years. We’ve seen the OG Pump in Reload, but at the moment the Thunder Pump is the best shotgun.

Outside of mythic and Exotic shotguns, this is one of the best Fortnite Reload Weapons in this category. This gun was a Pump alternative added later, but it might be preferable to the modern Pump at this point.

That gun has been nerfed quite a few times, while the Thunder Pump is still way faster than its alternative in Battle Royale. Frankly, going from this in Reload to the Hammer in Battle Royale weapons is an all-timer downgrade.

This one is also up there with its sheer capacity to kill in a few shots. With the nostalgia goggles off, this might even be the best shotgun in Fortnite Reload weapons loot pool.

Most Mythics

Okay, we can’t run through all of the Mythics and Exotics available in Reload one by one, since there’s a tiny chance one would come up. It doesn’t make much sense to plan your loadout by a weapon with a minuscule spawn chance.

If you stumble on one of the good ones though, these are pretty important.

If you can get your hands on Fortnite Reload Mythics, you might be set up for a fantastic game. Some of the most OP weapons we’ve ever seen are here, like the Foundation’s MK, Midas’ Drum Gun, Accelerant shotgun, and even the Mythic Goldfish.

Not all of these are going to be must carrys If you’re a long-time Fortnite player though, you’ll remember each of these guns. Whenever you luck out and get one they’re worth carrying for the game.

Some of these are so good, they’d be in a tier by themselves for a Fortnite Weapons tier list if they’re more widely available.

These are the Mythics you can get in Fortnite Reload:

Skye’s Assault Rifle
Sloane’s Striker Burst Rifle
Ocean’s Burst Assault Rifle
The Foundation’s MK-Seven Assault Rifle
Midas’ Drum Gun (Pre-nerfs)
Heisted Explosive Assault Rifle
Heisted Breacher Shotgun
Heisted Accelerant Shotgun
Gunar’s Stinger SMG
Heisted Run N Gun SMG
Heisted Blink Mag SMG
Mythic Goldfish

A Tier
Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle

The original Sniper is here, back hitting hard and taking out players across even this smaller map. The Bolt-Action is very useful if you can aim really well. For a skilled player, it’s one of the best Fortnite Reload weapons.

It might be a bit slower for a lot of players’ liking here. With reboots turned on though, you can take more risks with sniping. A good alternative is the Infantry Rifle, but the Sniper is a classic. Fit for Ranked Reload and standard gameplay.

The Bolt-Action Sniper is a very fun weapon to have in. The novelty isn’t as fresh since Chapter 5 has seen so many Snipers too, but it’s still good to have it around. This is much better balanced than the sniper we’ve had in recent seasons.

Assault Rifle

The old Chapter 1 Plain Assault Rifle! It’s great to have this back in the game for a longer duration this time.

The standard AR has some problems. There’s no real edge to it compared to more recent guns, no crazy fire rate or scope. However, it works for classic gameplay.

This is probably going to stay higher in most players’ estimations because of their muscle memory and skill with such a long-lasting Fortnite weapon. If it comes down to this or a Mythic MK though, it’s an easy decision.

Mammoth Pistol

The Mammoth Pistol isn’t quite on top of the game, just for how circumstantial it is. With its extremely high damage output though, there’s a lot to like here.  The gun can take players out quickly, especially if you have good aim.

There are Snipers and Infantry Rifles in the loot pool though, so the Mammoth Pistol has more competition. This is more of a fun one than a really meta pick, but it’s too much fun to rank much lower.

Prime Shotgun

For some reason, a lot of Fortnite’s weirder shotguns are seeing a second life in Fortnite Reload. Like the Prime Shotgun.

Why is this gun back? It’s a bit strange, but it’s not exactly the worst weapon ever made. A lot of players will probably always prefer the Pump.

However, the Prime can definitely stand on its own. It’s on the higher side of the best Fortnite Reload weapons, even if it’s outplayed by a different shotgun.

B Tier

Tactical Shotgun

The Tactical Shotgun is a gun that players might have been missing in the  C5 S3 weapons. This is the more classic OG type of the gun. It’s a quicker shotgun that’s more forgiving than a pump.

Not a replacement for a skilled player, but if you’re lacking the aim for other shotguns this one can work well. It’s even suited to the more casual playstyle here.

If you stumble on the Accelerant version, that’s a massive upgrade. That’s one of the best Fortnite Reload weapons. However, in its base form, it’s the weakest shotgun.

C Tier Fortnite Reload Weapons

Hammer Assault Rifle – The Hammer is outplayed by other Fortnite Reload weapons at the moment. It’s got its uses, but just won’t be worth really searching out.
Pistol – The Pistol just doesn’t have enough of a niche. Not a bad weapon, but there’s no reason for this gun category as a whole to take up a slot in your inventory.
Tactical SMG – The Tac SMG doesn’t really have enough of a niche in the Reload loot pool.

Those are the lower-ranked and best Fortnite Reload weapons. This is an interestingly lean loot pool. There’s still plenty of choice, but with only five slots you’ll still have to prioritize.

Most of these guns will be great for jumping into Fortnite Reload. We might even see the loot pool expand over time, so keep an eye out for future updates. The  Fortnite servers  could get more guns for Reload at any time.
