The 49ers attempted the worst onside kick in NFL history

Reading Time: 1 minute

When it rains, it pours. The San Francisco 49ers had an awful day in Week 7. They lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 28-18 in a game that saw Brandon Aiyuk suffer a serious knee injury and Brock Purdy put together one of his worst performances as a pro.

It’s only fitting the game concluded with the 49ers attempting arguably the worst onside kick in NFL history.

If Mitch Wishnowsky had completely whiffed on the kick, that would actually have been a better result. Instead, he managed to make brief contact with the side of the and send it spinning four yards before it came to a stop. Wishnowsky managed to put quite the bow on this atrocious game.

As a 49ers fan, I just said to myself, “Yep, that’s about right.”
