Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is yet again a gold medalist and a world record holder.

The United States star finished Thursday’s 400-meter hurdle final in 50.37 seconds, setting a world record and beating the silver medalist, America’s Anna Cockrell, by more than a second.

McLaughlin-Levrone’s dominance in the event is nothing new at this point, and fans praised yet another historic performance from the 25-year-old on social media after the race.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone just set a new world record for a SIXTH time. A 50.37-second showing in the women’s 400m hurdles. Unreal gap between her and Femke Bol, who took bronze, with American Anna Cockrell getting past for silver. Sydney is a machine.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone hasn’t lost since 2019 and has set SIX world records since 🐐🐐

A world of her own!!! pic.twitter.com/VfYOKPI05O

With McLaughlin-Levrone’s performance on Thursday, she has now set a world record in the 400-meter hurdles in her last six races, dating back to the 2021 Olympic time trials. She also made history by becoming the first woman to earn back-to-back gold medals in the event.

To put in perspective just how good McLaughlin-Levrone is in the 400-meter hurdles, her time of 50.37 seconds would leave her less than a second shy of qualifying for the final in the 400-meter without hurdles.

McLaughlin finished second in the 400-meter hurdles at the World Championships in 2019 but has since been on a tear. If she is able to compete in the 2028 Olympics, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see her make history again.
